My Class Reflection

Over the course of this semester, English 102 has greatly impacted my views on literature. The course has expanded my viewpoint and abilities when assessing literature. My ability to analyze both short stories and poems has grown. The importance of understanding the context in relation to the author’s personal life and time period has become a key component in my analyzing skills. In regards to my writing I have developed a stronger ability in writing a thesis. With a strong thesis that fully answers the question, it has led to the further development of topic sentences. The course has greatly advanced my skills of interpreting and writing about literature.
Various aspects of English 102 have aided to my enjoyment of the class. One of the features of class that I enjoyed the most was the blog homework assignments. These assignments challenged the norm of typical homework activities. The incorporation of personal views, thought-invoking questions and freedom of choice is what differs from most classes. This created a sense of enjoyment when completing these interactive tasks. Another aspect of the class that I appreciated was the final blog assignment. Rather than a final research paper, this assignment allowed freedom to discover a topic of interest while adding aspect of creativity.
In 5 years, I see myself as an individual who has immensely grown as an individual in regards to thinking and writing. The ability to actively think will aid career opportunities or conversations with patients. In regards to writing this can be used for field-based research which requires the ability to develop a strong thesis. English 102 has given me various assets to not only prepare me for other college courses but for other career ventures.
